Affordable Workshop
A note on affordability
I partnered with Onlinevents for several reasons.
One, I respect John’s professionalism as a qualified psychologist.
Two, I appreciate his approach to partnerships, and the value he puts on treating his partners as real human beings, with real life and health problems.
Three, affordability.
When I was just starting out in my second career as an independent professional, after leaving the NHS, I was still rather unwell, unsure of myself, and terrified of making a wrong move. But I wanted to keep up with learning, as my mental health would allow.
Connections with several “leaders in the field” gave me some courage to reach out to one - a colleague - requesting some fee reduction, even promising helping their event promotion, or else asking to defer the full payment: the event had a price label of over £200 four or six years ago. With the family of 6, without my income, we were just about scrambling along the poverty line.
My request was denied, with the explanation blaming their event organising partner - another “leader in the field”. “I'd do it, but…”
Do I have to spell out what their partner said, approached separately?
And then I learned about Onlinevents…
And I loved the affordability of the training they provide.
Naturally, they were a partnership of choice when I initially considered launching the workshops version of the AUTISTIC From First Principles Framework.
So all the consequent & subsequent training goes first through Onlinevents!
How Much?
You pay what you can afford.
The guiding suggestion is £25.00 donation for attendance, but if you are unable to do that, please don't hurt yourself by trying.
Or. Here's another suggestion: donate as little £1.0 for the live ticket and pay £9.99 for the workshop recording. This way, you get to keep the recording, you have contributed substantially to reward the expertise and the hard work of the presenter (it could take a 100 hrs to produce a decent workshop, with some autistic presenters reporting having spent 340 hours on a 45 minutes talk!!!), and you don't need to worry about missing out on the event completely if you cannot attend it live, due to the unfortunate unpredictability of our busy lives! 😊
What if you are one of the top 5 per cent?
I have not heard John make this point, but if you are among the most privileged in our society, may I gently suggest that you consider donating more than the minimum amount?
There's a team that is working on each event;
the AV recording professionals,
the video editors,
the host,
the presenter,
the communications,
the webmasters…
I could go on, but I think the point I wanted to make is clear.
I look forward to seeing you at the event: whatever your budget, ALL are welcome!
